Member-Owned Governance

Competitive Rate Advantage

Our not-for-profit model enables us to offer competitive savings returns and responsibly priced loans. Because MSCCU is focused on creating value for its members rather than maximising profits for external shareholders, more of the value we generate can be directed towards better rates, lower fees, and financial benefits that help members save more, borrow responsibly, and keep more of their money working for them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about membership, accounts, and how we work.

Membership is open to individuals, groups, and organisations within our service communities in Ghana. You may qualify to join if you live, work, worship, or study within our service communities, or if you are a relative of an existing MSCCU member. By becoming a member, you become more than a customer—you become a part-owner of MSCCU and can access our range of savings, credit, and other member-focused financial services. Visit our Membership page to learn more and apply.

We are member-owned and not-for-profit. Unlike banks, which are primarily focused on generating profits for external shareholders, a credit union exists to serve its members. Any surplus generated is reinvested for members’ benefit through more competitive interest rates, lower fees, dividends on members’ shares, improved financial services, and community development programmes. In a credit union, members are the owners and beneficiaries, making the institution more focused on creating long-term value for its members and the communities it serves.

MSCCU is a Ghanaian co-operative credit union affiliated with the Credit Unions Association (CUA) Ghana. We operate in accordance with applicable co-operative laws, regulatory requirements, and credit union principles in Ghana. MSCCU is governed by its members through an elected Board of Directors, supported by strong internal controls, governance structures, risk management, auditing, and management oversight. This ensures that members’ funds are managed responsibly, transparently, and in their best interests.

Applying for a loan with MSCCU is simple. Start by browsing our Products & Services to identify the loan that best meets your needs. To apply: Choose your loan product based on your financial needs. Complete the loan assessment process, where our team evaluates your repayment capacity and other relevant credit factors. Receive a decision and, if approved, proceed to disbursement. Our local decision-making approach enables us to understand our members and their financial needs better, helping us provide responsive and responsible lending decisions.
